This week we really didn’t focus on one main idea because we started reading the play A Raisin in the Sun but what we did do if we started to make connections between music and the characters and their emotions in the play. Some of the activities we did is the I saw… I thought papers for each act and we also did the music connection sheets. I would say that overall this week I understood what we did very well and i contributed to the activities as well. I would say that i still need to work on paying attention when we are reading more in class.
Throughout this week we really focused on our comparative analysis papers, over the course of the week we began to create a first draft and finish it fully, then we went on to letting our peers read and edit it for us, giving us more ways to improve on our writing. I thought this kind of helped, but i honestly think that it would have helped me a lot more if we all could have printed out our papers and then we could physically write and fix the mistakes and give examples in the margins, because it would help to show the author what you meant a lot better. I would say my participation in this week's activities was very good, because i helped edit what i could of my partner's paper and discussed with her the minor defaults which i think really helped get her paper going more. I would rate my understandings of what we did in class this week fairley average because we were just writing a paper and took me a little bit to start mine. Some of the ideas that we learned about this week were about how things can change drastically over a very short amount of time. Such as when we watched the two different videos, one of the 1930’s and the other the 1950’s era, and how they had come to differ so much from each other in just twenty years. I really thought that i understood a lot about this week's topics because i have pretty decent knowledge on both of those time periods and what happened and how people changed from those experiences. I would say that my participation this week would be a ten if we were grading it on a scale to 1-10 because i followed along whenever we were doing something and i always gave my input on a subject when asked. I also did a lot of work with my group to come up with answers. I think that i would need to work on paying attention a little bit more to the subjects we talk about. Some of the main ideas that we learned this week were how relationships are related and how they benefit each other, or how their relationship can harm one another. I thought that i understood what we did in class pretty well this week, but there was also the fact that we didn’t really do much this week because we had testing, and watched a movie. But i don’t quite get or understand why we are studying relationships in english. Some questions that i have for this week is what we are doing with the whole relationships things because i don’t exactly get the purpose and i would like further explanation. Some of the main ideas we learned about this week was about friendships, and how they change. over time. Such as how Lennie and George are like best friends, almost brothers really. But as they get to the farm they start to grow apart a little bit. Like how George likes to go out on the town with all the other guys and becomes really very close with them, while Lennie stays back at the farm and all he wants to do is play with his puppy, Lennie also begins to become closer to Crooks. I would say that my participation this week was very well, i joined in on all of the activities, and did all of my work. I would also say that my understanding of this weeks activities and work was very high because i understood how it all corresponded with the topic. Most of the main ideas that we learned this week were about how we can try over and over again to reach are goal because people make mistakes and we are supposed to learn from them and try again. Some activities we did this week was talk about the words that we think of when we hear Relationships, Serve, Purposes. Some of the questions that i still have don't quite understand from this week is what we are supposed to be getting out of relationships serve many purposes. I would have to say that my participation in this weeks activities was pretty good, but we didn't do a whole lot that i had to participate on because, we kinda just had two days of nothing because one of our substitutes didn't know what she was really supposed to be doing, and the second day with the substitute i already had all my work done that we were doing for that day. I would rate my understanding of this weeks ideas very low because i was basically confused the whole entire time because everything was going to fast and i wasn't given specific direction. I guess what i mainly need to work on is catching up with what you are saying in class and try to understand the directions a little bit better, and possibly ask more questions. |
